The 2006 CIAC Symposium was held in Hobart, Tasmania 6th – 10th February 2006 under the theme of Cephalopod Life Cycles. The main symposium was preceded by three workshops on the 2nd and 3rd of February on Movement and Migration of Cephalopods; Southern Ocean Cephalopods; and Cephalopods as Experimental Animals.
One of the conference highlights was an invited talk about the first-ever observations of a live giant squid in the wild, by Tsunemi Kubodera and Kyoichi Mori. In recognition of this historic event, Tsunemi Kubodera was presented with various gifts by Clyde Roper, some photos of which are in the gallery below.
